What are the senses?
The senses are used to create experiences in contact with the world and get to know it. Each of these senses have a very specific application, such as capt smells, tastes, sounds, colors, etc. This information is caught by the brain and it is in charge of storing this new knowledge. Human beings have five senses:
The Sight: The eyes are an important part of our body because through them we can see the world, the colors, objects, etc; Day by day we use them to watch our favorite show or to read a book.
Smell: Through the nose we can identify all different kinds of smells that we could like or not, for example: a perfume, flowers, a delicious meal, candles, fruits and much more.
Hearing: We understand with the help of our ears. Ears are the auditory sense organs that let us perceive music, voices or even loud noises that can disturb this sense.
Touch: Your skin is the principal medium to get contact with the world and get to know various types of shapes, textures or temperatures. The skin is the largest sense organ of our body.
Taste: It is received by the tongue and it's able to distinguish any flavors such as spicy, sour, bitter, sweet and salty.
Why are they so important?
As indicated earlier , the five senses are essential to keep in touch with the outside world, receive and save in our mind all the new things we are interacting with. People born without one of their senses are incapable of experiencing the world completely, for example, a deaf person won’t be able to hear their parent’s voice or the music they would like, someone who is blind won’t ever see a beautiful sunset and much more. Nowadays, technological advances have allowed these citizens to adapt new ways to develop their other senses and live a normal lifestyle on their own.
